Volunteers Welcome!
The Trust has a considerable number of volunteers in a variety of roles. We have a number of volunteers who have worked with us for a considerable time but we also often have people who volunteer for shorter periods of several weeks or a few months, perhaps while they are between jobs or looking for permanent paid employment. We always endeavour to welcome people from a wide range of backgrounds and different situations.
As well as the volunteers who form our various production teams in a number of locations we have administrative volunteers who help in our Edinburgh office and at any given time we may also have graphic design and marketing volunteers.
Are you interested in becoming a volunteer?
Apart from one part-time paid member of staff (our Volunteer Co-ordinator) the Trust is wholly dependent on volunteers to achieve our aims and objectives.
Volunteers help in several ways:
- Card Production (cutting, pouching and laminating); this is team work, developing mutual support and a tremendous team spirit; inspirational!
- Administration (making up orders; stock-taking; packing and posting; filing; preparing mail-shots etc.)
- Marketing; providing scope ideally for those with these skills/experience, or students wishing to put theory into practice, whilst adding to their CV.
- Graphic Design (as for Marketing, above).
Volunteering can provide a springboard for people between jobs; looking for a change in career; getting started again after a break; or to enhance retirement.
The Trust has an Equal Opportunity policy and particularly welcomes disabled or disadvantaged volunteers including those of other nationalities.
