The Jedburgh team comprising Jan Fotheringham, Sybil Robson and myself, Chris Logan,
has been producing Amos Scripture Care Cards for two years. We meet once a week on a
Tuesday afternoon at my home, using my kitchen as the production centre. Not only is the
time spent on production but also as a time of fellowship and relaxation, and working with
the team has become an important part of our lives.
We are happy to share in the privilege of producing the cards. It is a
means of learning in a most enjoyable way, each order bringing the opportunity to read
scripture verses, some familiar and some new, often taking time later to look them up in
the Bible. There is great pleasure in working with the beautiful pictures that have been
chosen to illustrate the Scripture verses. It is altogether a rewarding and fulfilling
task to produce such small but very meaningful cards. I have the added pleasure of having
some of my photographs used for the cards and being able to offer hospitality to the team
We are pleased to have been able to supply cards for the Borders General
Hospital. This is a rewarding outlet in that there is much need of God in such an
environment of sickness, pain and suffering. We pray that through the cards we have
brought some comfort to those in need. We also supply Whitchester House, a counselling
centre near Hawick. It's nice to think that people who have spent time there have
something to take home with them to draw on their memory in a special way. Several Border
churches and now also the Under the Sun Centre in Kelso stock the cards.
In our own congregation at Trinity the cards have been taken by many people of all ages
to give to friends or relatives or simply to keep as a reminder of Gods wonderful
promises.
Occasionally when people go abroad they take a bundle of cards with them. Only recently
one of our members took some to Kenya. It's wonderful to think that something we've all
shared in making can bring a little of Gods love to people all over the world.
We all look forward to the steady progress and continuation of producing these cards
and we would like to thank Bruce for his vision as to what power a little card can and
does have in peoples lives and for the opportunity to share in their production. May
God continue to bless us in His work.
