I know that many of you, who have found our cards help others to
build up their confidence in Scripture, would like to know the background to the
Amos Scripture Care Trust. Every successful enterprise requires a vision to
direct it. Yet a vision from the Lord is not welcome unless a person is
sensitively tuned to God’s will. The prophet Amos advanced theology by
proclaiming a universal God rather than a god who belongs only to the Hebrews.
However, his prophetic visions were unwelcome. Peter received a vision at Joppa,
which showed him the importance of casting aside the religious constraints that
were current in the early church. That vision enabled him to support Paul and
Barnabas when their mission to the Gentiles was under serious threat.
The Amos Scripture Care Trust was set-up after I received a vision that was both disturbing and encouraging. The vision was in two parts. The first part revealed a dramatically changing world. Russia, which at that time was preserving the balance of power with America, was about to be destabilised. This would lead to an unstable world, experiencing increasing acts of violence. Countries in the Far East would initiate an explosive world conflict, affecting all countries, with the vortex focussed on the Middle East. There was no time scale for this vision. However, the morning after the vision, Television broadcasted the news that Gorbachev had been deposed. In the second part of the vision, Britain was in darkness. But the land also contained many glittering, coloured lights. There were many dark places and I asked the Lord "What are these dark places". And the Lord replied "These are where my churches are". I thought this cannot be so, and I waited. Gradually, from one of the dark places a white light grew brighter and began to extinguish the coloured lights around it. This started happening all over the country. And I thought ‘This is your church Lord’. |
