In the days that followed I pondered these visions and asked myself ‘Is the church prepared for the situation that had been revealed to me?’ and I knew that an answer must be found. But it required an act of repentance and forgiveness to discover what God had planned. Jesus has entrusted His Word into our hands but, like Martha, our hands have many other things to do. If His light is to spread from churches into the community, Scripture must flow out as well. But many Christians are not confident about doing this, so help is needed.

Christian Tracts are a valuable witnessing tool, however they have two significant weaknesses. They are printed on paper which can become tatty and unusable over time, but ‘The word of the Lord stands forever’ (1 Peter 1:25). They also tend to use the same few Scriptures, yet ‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.’(2 Timothy 3:16).

To allow the vision of light to flow out from the churches, Scripture needs to be presented in a durable form that focuses on more than a few selected verses. However, even if we used our wealth to give Bibles to as many people as we could, would they read it today? We cannot compel people to read the Bible, so we have to attract people to Scripture by presenting it, as it is in the Bible, in a form that is acceptable and lasting.

The Amos Scripture Care Trust has set up small teams of Christians who are eager to use their hands to make the words of the Bible available to others in a durable and attractive form. As many Christians are involved in other useful tasks, it is important that we do not take up too much of their time. Therefore each team meets together once a week either in the morning or afternoon. There are other people who are important to God who He also wants to draw into Christian fellowship. These are the unemployed and the disabled, and we make a point of including them in our teams.

Our teams are the hubs of our work. The cards they make are in a size that can easily be carried in a wallet or purse. They are then placed in churches that are close to the team’s locality, so that the people who attend these churches can carry them out into the community around them.

I appreciate that we all have a desire for peace, and I earnestly hope that we will have peace. But the prevailing desire, in society, to choose the comfort that wealth brings rather than the peace of God, places the whole structure of society at risk.

Please do whatever you can to assist us in our work.
