LIVING BY
FAITH
|
| We are often asked to produce cards for special reasons. One such occasion occurred last September when we received an email from Tina in New York asking us to design a card to be used at her sister's memorial service in Ghana. Our teams appreciated the sensitivity of the request and responded quickly. Within two weeks, 500 cards were produced and airmailed to New York in time for Tina to take them to Ghana. This is the text that Tina chose for the cards. 'Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.' 2 Corinthians 5:1. Followed by these words. 'In death there is certainly the very real pain and sorrow of physical separation. But it is equally true that our loved ones remain with us. They do not just go off to some dark and distant place. They simply continue into eternal life. We are born for heaven and we end this life of tears to begin our life of endless happiness. For us who believe, death is a preparation for eternal union with those we love, in peace and joy of heaven.' After the Service Tina contacted us, saying that many people had told her that our card had created a real sense of the presence of Joy and made the service very special. |

THE AMOS
SCRIPTURE CARE TRUST |
| One of our Trustees, Elinor Jones, had this short article published in the Scottish Baptist News (Feb 2002). It ably sums up the work of the Trust. The Amos Scripture Care Trust exists to provide Christians with attractive cards, grouped under the headings of Pastoral Care, Evangelical, Children’s and Customised, with a text on one side and a picture or illustration on the other. Being conscious that fewer people know much about the Christian way of life today, their hope is that the volunteer-made cards – which are full-colour, credit card size, laminated and durable - will be passed on to non-Christian friends. No charge is made but the Trust depends on donations (20-25p per card is average) to keep in production. Their Mission Statement is notably succinct:
“Focused purely on the word of God. Flexible in encouraging Christians to spread the Word of
God.” |
