During peak holiday times most cities and towns will have ‘No Vacancies’ signs outside their ‘Guest houses’, yet, Professor Stephen Hawking says, ‘ The universe is an hotel with an infinite number of rooms. Even though all the rooms are full, one can still fit in more guests.’ It is a tragedy that many people have no room for Jesus in their lives today. Easter approaches and we are reminded of Christ’s words to the disciples in John’s gospel, ‘Do not be worried and upset, Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my Father's house, and I am going to prepare a place for you.’ Our Lord’s prepared His disciples for the risks they faced in the future in a way that gave them confidence in the message they had for Jews, Greeks and people of all nations. The heart of the message was ‘Jesus is risen’ What a joyful message for today. At Easter may we deepen our faith and strengthen our resolve to prepare people for the Good News of the Gospel and help fill the rooms that God has prepared for them. |
