Is It True

Lord, are you really there? I think I believe that you are but I'm not sure. Some of my friends are convinced that you exist; they even talk about you as if you were alive and they tell me that you make a big difference to their lives. And yet other good friends think that religion is just a crutch for the weak, for those who can't manage to run their own lives. Sometimes I don't know who to believe.

If you are there, how did you make the world, and why are there so many starving people? Surely if it's true that you're a God of love you could put things right. There are so many things that don't make sense, things that I don't understand. And what about Jesus, where does he fit in, and why did he come to die for our sins, what does it all mean? I really want to know because deep down I want to believe in you even if I don't quite know why. If you do exist, please answer this prayer.

My child, I am very much alive despite the contradictions of your friends! Had you spoken to me sooner you would not have doubted for so long.

I am indeed a crutch for the weak and there is no better crutch on which to lean when trouble is near, for I am strength in weakness and I am power in the dark places of life. When you have exhausted the inadequacy of human crutches you will know what I mean.

I will answer your questions but remember that my ways are higher than the ways of humankind therefore you will only understand in part (Isaiah 55:8,9), but when I take you home to heaven your understanding will be complete.

In the meantime let me explain about the origins of the earth for there are many confusing human theories of how it came into being. If you read the Bible you will find the truth, and the truth is that by my Word I created the earth. You must remember that I AM GOD and there is no limit to what I can do (Genesis I:I-I9).

You must not think that it is my will that people starve, because there is food for all. The reluctance of Man to hear my voice and share my resources is answer enough to this question.

You say that I could put things right in the world but do you not see that I have already provided the means to put things right? I reach out to all people individually and offer them a new way of life and as they come to me and experience my great love for them, they in turn are able to love their neighbours as they should. Unfortunately many prefer to live without me and that is the heart of the problem. Without my enabling love, people are unable to love their enemies

Although I am a God of love I am also a Holy God, condemning sin, but as you know I sent my Son, the sinless One, to take upon himself all those things in human lives that displease me so that sinners need not feel the weight of my displeasure. All those who receive him and believe in him will be totally acceptable to me as my true children and I will fill them to overflowing with love for myself and love for others ... only then will things be put right (John I:I2).

It pleases me that you desire to believe in me - this is the prompting of my Holy Spirit within you so do not resist it. I too long for a relationship with you because I am your Heavenly Father and you are my child. Come to me in the name of Jesus.
